Gyula's thermal complex is one of the finest provincial spa experiences in Hungary, set around a beautifully preserved 15th-century brick castle — one of the very few medieval fortifications to have survived intact in the Great Hungarian Plain. The thermal water at Gyula is calcium-magnesium-hydrogen carbonate in composition and emerges at 70°C, cooled to bathing temperatures across a series of indoor and outdoor pools. The full complex — known as the Várfürdő (Castle Bath) — includes thermal and swimming pools, a covered adventure pool with slides, saunas, steam rooms, and a comprehensive medical spa department offering physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and balneotherapy. The surrounding park and the presence of the castle create a uniquely scenic bathing setting.
